BASOVCA Holds Strategic Management Meeting to Address Staff Discipline and Operational Efficiency

The Bauchi State Orphans and Vulnerable Children Agency (BASOVCA) held a crucial management meeting at the agency’s headquarters to address key administrative and disciplinary matters concerning the conduct and performance of staff. The meeting, chaired by the Executive Chairperson, Hajiya Yelwa Abubakar Balewa, brought together members of the management team to deliberate on issues central to staff discipline, work ethics, and service delivery.

In her address, Hajiya Yelwa emphasized the need for all civil servants to uphold professionalism and responsibility in the discharge of their duties. She reiterated the position of the Head of Civil Service Commission on the enforcement of disciplinary measures against any staff found guilty of misconduct, including habitual lateness, absenteeism, and dereliction of duty. She stressed that such acts would no longer be tolerated under her leadership.

Speaking further, the Director of Administration and Human Resources, Alhaji Ahmed Kawu Aliyu (DAHR) (Wakilin Hanyan Misau), echoed the concerns raised by the Chairperson. He cautioned junior staff against insubordination and disrespect to senior officers, reminding all that civil servants have entered into a formal agreement with the government by virtue of their acceptance letters. He warned that any breach of this contract would attract strict disciplinary action.

Hajiya Yelwa also encouraged a culture of teamwork, empathy, mutual respect, and professional conduct among staff, urging everyone to desist from gossip and other unproductive discussions that undermine the agency’s mission. She emphasized the importance of protecting sensitive agency information, as indiscriminate disclosure has the potential to compromise ongoing efforts and strategic plans.

The meeting also addressed the urgent need for data validation and updating of records to ensure a comprehensive and accurate database of orphans and vulnerable children in the state. This, she noted, is critical for informed policy formulation and effective service delivery. Contributing to the discussions, Mr. Nasiru Usman, Staff Officer (S.O), highlighted the importance of punctuality and discipline, calling on all management staff to set a good example and promote a positive work culture.

Similarly, Mr. Joseph, Admin Officer and Barr. Saratu Andrew Haruna (HOD, Legal), underscored the role of unity and cooperation in achieving the agency’s objectives. The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from the management team to uphold the values and mandate of BASOVCA for the betterment of orphans and vulnerable children across Bauchi State.
