In a historic milestone for orphans and vulnerable children in Bauchi State, the Executive Chairperson of the Bauchi State Orphans and Vulnerable Children Agency (BASOVCA), Hajiya Yelwa Abubakar Balewa, has presented testimonials and certificates to 84 graduating students of Ambassador MC Abubakar OVC Technical College, who successfully completed the 2024/2025 National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) exams.

Out of the 84 graduates, an impressive 82 students obtained five credits and above, including Mathematics and English Language, meeting the requirements for university admission.

Speaking at the event, Hajiya Yelwa applauded the remarkable performance of the students, attributing their success to the unwavering support of the Bauchi State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, CON (Kauran Daular Usmaniya).

She emphasized that the tremendous achievement was made possible by the Governor’s continued commitment to the welfare and education of orphans and vulnerable children across the state. According to her, the state government not only covered the registration fees of the students but also sponsored their feeding, accommodation, and other essential needs.

"Their performance underscores our agency’s commitment to ensuring quality education for orphans and vulnerable children," she noted, adding that strict supervision during the NABTEB exams, including the presence of a supervisor from Minna, Niger State, further ensured credibility. She described the college as the best technical institution in the state, judging from this outstanding academic record.

The Chairperson also urged the government to consider granting scholarships to the graduates to enable them further their studies. "These students carry not only their personal dreams but also the hopes of their families, communities, and indeed the entire state," she emphasized, while also presenting a token to each student to assist with transportation expenses.

The Head of Education, Mallam Adamu, alongside the Principal of the College, Mr. Umar Zailani, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Governor for his consistent support in ensuring the students’ academic success. They equally lauded Hajiya Yelwa for her exemplary leadership and unwavering dedication to the affairs of the college.

In their remarks, the students appreciated both the Governor and the agency for the life-changing support they received, pledging to remain obedient and focused on their academic journey. They also prayed for greater opportunities for other students who are still in school.

With this landmark achievement, BASOVCA has once again demonstrated its pivotal role in transforming the lives of orphans and vulnerable children in Bauchi State, ensuring that they not only dream of a brighter future but have the means to achieve it.
